Profil Jabatan Pengajian Tamil

Sejarah Jabatan Pengajian Tamil Sejak 1993 - 2020

Maktab Perguruan Tuanku Bainun telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 1993. Sejak itu, Unit Bahasa Tamil telah diwujudkan di kampus ini. Pada ketika itu, ia diketuai oleh En.Rajalingam (1993-2004) dan dibantu 2 orang pensyarah iaitu Pn.Vengadamal Rajoo dan En.Ehambaram. Selepas itu, En.Ehambaram telah mengambil alih tugas sebagai Ketua Unit. (2005-2007).  Pada tahun 2006, Maktab Perguruan Tuanku Bainun ini dinaiktaraf sebagai Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tuanku Bainun dan  sejak hari itu, unit ini dikenali sebagai Bidang Pengajian Tamil diterajui oleh Puan Vengadamal Rajoo (2008-2011) dan diikuti oleh En. Manimaran Govindasamy (2012-2014). Selepas itu, diikuti oleh En.Saminathan Govindasamy sebagai Ketua Bidang Pengajian Tamil.  Mulai Januari 2020, IPGK Tuanku Bainun diiktiraf sebagai Tier 1, bagi Bahasa Tamil. Sejak itu, Bidang Pengajian Tamil dinaik taraf sebagai Jabatan Pengajian Tamil dan En.Saminathan Govindasamy dan En. Segaran Muthappen sebagai Penolong Ketua Jabatan. Para pensyarah yang berkhidmat di bawah Jabatan Pengajian Tamil terdiri daripada En.Manimaran Govindasamy, Dr.Balu Subramaniam dan Datin Allimalai Subramaniam dan Dr.Maniyarasan Muniandy sebagai pensyarah pinjaman.

Saminathan  Govindasamy is currently the Head of Tamil Studies Department and Tamil language lecturer at Institute of Teacher Education Tuanku Bainun Campus, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. He received his Certificate of Teaching (Tamil Studies) in 1989, Bachelor of Arts (Tamil Studies and History) in 1997 and Master of Education (Language Teaching) in 2004. He has been in the education field for 31 years and has vast experience in teaching and teacher training.  He has also been actively involved in curriculum and textbook development as well as various teacher training module writing on Tamil language and literature. He was awarded the "Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang" by the Ministry of Education in 2013.

Segaran Muthappen Deputy Head of Tamil Studies Department is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. He has 27 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 2015. He has a Masters Degree in Literature (UM), B.Ed. (USM and Diploma in Teaching (Maktab Perguruan Raja Melewar). He is a specialist in HOTS Item Developing and has been Examination Officer in Malaysian Examination Syndicate, Malaysian Education Ministry, for 10 years. He has been actively involved in various teacher training module writing and research on Tamil language and literature. He was awarded the "Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang" twice by the Ministry of Education in 2005 and 2011.

 

Manimaran Govindasamy is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. He has 30 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 1988. He has a M.Ed. (USM), Bachelor in Tamil Studies and Malay Studies (U.Malaya), and BasicTeaching Certificate (Maktab Perguruan Lembah Pantai). He was awarded the Excellent Lecturer (Pensyarah Cemerlang) twice by the Ministry of Education in 2013 and 2016. He has been actively involved in various teacher training module writing and research on Tamil language and literature. He has been a Tamil Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OUM since 2006. He was awarded the "Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang" by the Ministry of Education in 2010.

 

Balu Subramaniam is a lecturer specializing in Tamil Studies at IPGKTB. He has been in the teaching profession since 3/12/1983. He has a PhD., M.A., and B.Ed. in Tamil Studies from University Malaya. He has 31 years’ teaching experience in Tamil Language and. has been actively involved in writing various teacher training modules in his field. He is also a master trainer of Tamil Studies pedagogies.

 

Allimalai Subramaniam is currently a Tamil Language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. She has 26 years teaching experience and joined teacher training in 2007.  She has a M.Ed. (USM) in Educational Technology  and  B.Ed. In Agricultural Science. She obtained a Teaching Certificate from Maktab Perguruan Seri Kota. She was awarded the "Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang" by the Ministry of Education in 2015.

 

Maniyarasan Muniandy is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. He has 28 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 1989. He has a PhD (U.Malaya), M.A (U.Malaya), Bachelor in Tamil Language and Linguistics (U.Malaya), Diploma in Malay Language (U.Malaya) and Teaching Certificate (Maktab Perguruan Sultan Abdul Halim). He was awarded the Excellent Lecturer (Pensyarah Cemerlang) twice by the Ministry of Education in 2013 and 2016. He has been actively involved in various teacher training module writing and research on Tamil literature.

 

Thilakavathy Rajagopal is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. Her first degree was at University Malaya in year 2004 as an undergraduate of Faculty of Arts and Science Social. Her specialized field was Tamil Studies and Geography. Then she joined at teacher's training college in 2005 at Maktab Perguruan Sultan Abdul Halim to obtained diploma in education in order to complete her journey as a educator in 2006. She has 15 years teaching experience at primary Tamil school. She was very passionate to establish young scientist to participate in Science Fair competition. She was awarded the Excellent Teacher in 2011. She obtained M.Ed. (Curriculum Studies) from University Science Malaysia (USM) in 2013. Her career as a lecturer begins at IPGK Sultan Abdul Halim in 2015. She has been actively involved in various research and conference on Tamil literature. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy on Tamil Literature specifically in Bhakti Literature at University of Malaya.

 

Parvathi Vellachami is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. She has 20 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 1998. She has a PhD (U.Malaya), M.A (U.Malaya), Bachelor in Tamil Language (OUM) and Diploma in Tamil Language (Maktab Perguruan Hulu Kinta, Ipoh). She has been actively involved in various teacher training module writing and research on Tamil and Tamil literature.

 

Vikneshwary Sahadevan is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. She has 11 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 2005. She has a M.Ed. (UPSI) and Bachelor in Tamil Language (IPG Kampus Tengku Ampuan Afzan). She has been actively involved in data handling works and teaching Tamil Language and Matematics in Primary school.

 

Elangeswari Aruchunnan is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. She has 12 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 2011. Now she is doing PhD in Tamil literature (U.Malaya), M.A Tamil Literature (U.Malaya), Bachelor in Tamil Language (U.Malaya) and KPLI in Tamil Language (Maktab Perguruan Sultan Abdul Halim, IPSAH,KEDAH). She has been actively involved in various teacher training module writing and research on Tamil and Tamil literature.

 

Thulasi Rudrapathy is currently a Tamil language lecturer at IPG Kampus Tuanku Bainun. She has 13 years’ teaching experience and joined teacher training in 2004. She has a M.Edu (USM), Bachelor in Tamil Language Teaching (OUM), Bachelor of Arts -Tamil Literature (Devanyap Paavaanar Educational Trust-Tamil Naadu) and Diploma in Tamil Literature (Devanyap Paavaanar Educational Trust-Tamil Naadu). She is actively involved in research on Teaching Tamil as second language.
